Ice Melts

It never suspected what was to happen, never in a million years! As it lay there, silent, tranquil, solid even. Unblemished by the events yet to happen, and pure. It went from day to day, as it always did. Living its peaceful life, not bothering anyone, and not being bothered. Sometimes it was admired, sometimes it was laughed with, and at. Sometimes there was joy, and sometimes pain. But mostly, there was life. A calm, undisturbed life.
And then it started. Slowly at first, drip by drip. Warmer, more flowing waters than that which made up its own being. Drip, drip, drip. It came, and slowly, ever so slowly, the ice melted, and joined the waters that turned it into them. Until the ice, was ice no longer. Instead just a part, a small part, of an ever increasing flow of water.
And that water, that started as a trickle, became a stream. Then a river. And finally an ocean. An all encompassing, vast and smothering ocean. Chipping away at everything it came into contact with, until that too joined the body of water, and became one with it.
And then, as countless had done before it, and countless would do after it, That which once was ice, knelt with the others, and prayed.

I've always like descriptive pieces.
